Walking in Val Gardena - Passo Sella

Walking

Walking in Val Gardena: toe-to-toe with rocky giants

Flowering Alpine meadows, lush pine forests and rugged peaks soaring into the sky all make hiking in Val Gardena a delight for the eyes and a joy for the soul! Whether a challenging steep uphill climb or a gentle stroll, whether a summit ascent, a trip to a mountain hut or around the famous Sella Ronda, between the Sassolungo and the Puez-Geisler Nature Park every visitor will find just the right hike around Selva! The cable car up to the start of the Sella Ronda is located a short walk from the Apartments Clivia, while the garden outside is ideal for relaxing in the evening.

Mountain biking in Val Gardena: on the trail of the Dolomites

Single trails, forest trails, cycle paths – uphill or downhill, for adrenaline junkies or leisure cyclists: the Val Gardena and Alpe di Siusi are a mecca for mountain bikers in South Tyrol! There are tours suited to both beginners and experts along the bike network that runs throughout the Dolomite landscape. Directly above Selva, fit mountain bikers can reach the Sella Ronda, a tour involving a climb of between 330 (clockwise) and 1,200 (anticlockwise) metres of ascent, while there are also less demanding family excursions or hut tours in the immediate vicinity.

Mountain climbing in Val Gardena: the only way is up

Higher and higher still, until you reach the summit – because on top of the mountains you feel on top pf the world! The Sella, the Sassolungo and Sassopiatto massifs, the Geisler range, Piz Boé, Stevia, the Cir peaks – the choice here in Selva is as vast as the mountains themselves, as is the range of difficulty. With a certain amount of mountaineering practice, however, there is nothing to stop you from reaching the top!

Selva - surrounded by a UNESCO World Heritage Site

The Dolomites have since 2009 officially been a UNESCO World Heritage Site. These rugged, pale stone formations are subject to special nature conservation regulations and are all the more beautiful when experienced close up, with body, mind and soul. The Dolomites provide us with a greater vision – both literally and figuratively.
